Why a screenshot is not good enough
A screenshot captures your screen, not the file. You get whatever your display was showing, cropped to your viewport, re-compressed by the screenshot format, and often with interface elements baked in. The stored photo is a clean JPEG at up to 1080px on the long edge, and that is what this tool returns.
Carousels: every slide, individually
This is where most tools fall over. A carousel is not one image — it is a container holding up to twenty separate items, and each can be a photo or a video with its own resolutions. Tools that grab the first image and stop are useless for the ten-slide breakdown you actually wanted.
Here each slide gets its own card, numbered in the author's order, labelled with its file type. A post with six photos and two videos comes back as eight cards. Filenames carry the slide number, so sorting a folder by name keeps the set in order.
Full frame or square crop
Instagram publishes square centre-crops of a photo alongside the full frame, in the same list of candidates. Picking the wrong one silently loses the top and bottom of a portrait shot.
Any rendition that is a crop rather than the whole frame is marked with a small crop icon, and hovering the row explains it. Full frames are always offered first.
A note on file formats
Instagram stores some images as HEIC and transcodes them to JPEG on the way out — the path says .heic while the delivered bytes are a JPEG. Naming a file from the path alone produces a .heic that Windows Photos and most editors refuse to open.
This tool reads the delivery format rather than the path, then reconciles it against the response headers, so the extension always matches the actual bytes.
Photographers' work deserves a higher bar
Carousels are often someone's portfolio, event coverage or paid work. Saving a set for reference is one thing; publishing it under your own name is another. Get permission before anything appears publicly with your name attached, and credit clearly when you share.

How do I download all photos from an Instagram carousel?
Paste the post link. Every slide is listed as its own card, numbered in the order the author arranged them, and each has its own download button. Browsers block a page from firing many downloads at once, so you tap each slide rather than getting a single ZIP.
Why is there no download-all button?
Browsers deliberately prevent one click producing many files, since that is an obvious abuse vector. Any site offering true bulk download is either building a ZIP on its own server — meaning your files passed through and were stored there — or opening a stack of pop-ups.
What resolution will the photo be?
The largest version Instagram stores, usually capped around 1080px on the long edge. Instagram resizes on upload, so this is the ceiling regardless of what the photographer originally exported.
What does the crop icon on a row mean?
That rendition is a square centre-crop rather than the full frame. It is useful if you specifically want the square, but it cuts the top and bottom off a portrait photo. Full frames are listed first.
Can I download a photo from a private account?
No. Private accounts are not publicly served, so there is nothing to fetch. Anything claiming otherwise is asking for your login, which is how accounts get stolen.
Do the files keep any metadata?
You get the file exactly as Instagram serves it. Instagram itself strips most camera EXIF data on upload, so location and camera settings are generally already gone before the photo is ever published.
How do I download Instagram photos in full resolution?
Paste the post link and take the first row for each image. Full frames are always listed ahead of square crops, and the top row is the largest file Instagram stores for that photo.
Can I save Instagram photos on iPhone and Android?
Yes. On iPhone choose Save to Photos when Safari asks, or Save to Files to keep it out of your camera roll. On Android the image goes to your Downloads folder and appears in the gallery shortly after.
